Ne samo zbog toga \u0161to \u0107emo tamo mo\u017eda otkriti tragove drevnog \u017eivota ili \u0161to smo na njega poslali niz rovera i svemirskih letjelica te iz prve ruke &#8220;do\u017eivjeli&#8221; neki drugi planet ve\u0107 i zato \u0161to je on mogu\u0107i kandidat za stvaranje na\u0161e prve vi\u0161eplanetarne civilizacije.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Naime, ve\u0107 se dugo razmatra na koji bi na\u010din ovaj pra\u0161njav i suh planet mogao postati nastanjiv ili pogodan za stalne baze s ljudskom posadom. Jedan od prvih koraka u tom smjeru je izgradnja naselja na Marsu. Me\u0111utim, dugoro\u010dno bi bilo idealno teraformirati Crveni planet, odnosno pretvoriti ga u novu Zemlju na kojoj bi bilo rijeka, zelenih povr\u0161ina i atmosfere koja bi se mogla udisati.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/otpor.media\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/mars-2-010922.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-28950\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">No, sada\u0161nja atmosfera na Marsu uop\u0107e nije pogodna za Zemljane. Iznimno je rijetka, a sastoji se uglavnom od ugljikovog dioksida. Kada bismo tamo poku\u0161ali disati, ubrzo bi se pozdravili sa \u017eivotom. No znanstvenici su sada postigli jednu va\u017enu stvar &#8211; po\u010deli su uspje\u0161no proizvoditi kisik na Crvenom planetu, i to s ure\u0111ajem koji je ne\u0161to malo manji od kofera.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-luminous-vivid-amber-color has-text-color wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>MOXIE<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">NASA je u rover Perseverance ugradila MOXIE (Mars Oxygen In-Situ Resource Utilization (ISRU) Experiment) koji putem elektrolize rastavlja molekule ugljikovog dioksida na kisik i ugljikov monoksid. Tijekom 2021. godine MOXIE je uspje\u0161no proizveo kisik sedam puta i izgleda da \u0107e i dalje biti dobar u obavljanju ovog posla.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Ovo je prva demonstracija stvarnog kori\u0161tenja resursa na povr\u0161ini drugog planeta pri kojoj se putem kemijske transformacije stvara ne\u0161to \u0161to mo\u017ee biti korisno za ljudsku misiju. Mo\u017ee li taj ure\u0111aj proizvesti dovoljno kisika za odr\u017eavanje stalne ljudske postaje na Marsu i je li mo\u017eda ovo po\u010detna faza nekog budu\u0107eg projekta teraformacije Crvenog planeta?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-luminous-vivid-amber-color has-text-color wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>&#8220;\u010cak i kad bi MOXIE mogla mahnuti \u010darobnim \u0161tapi\u0107em, i dalje bismo imali gusto\u0107u zraka koja je manja od 1%&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Astrofizi\u010dar Bojan Pe\u010dnik, jedan od voditelja projekta Hipersfera koji je doktorirao na Institutu za ekstraterestrijalnu fiziku Max Planck u Njema\u010dkoj, dao je odgovor na neka od ovih pitanja.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;MOXIE je prvi put uspje\u0161no pokazao da je mogu\u0107e i izvedivo kori\u0161tenje lokalnih resursa za proizvodnju stvari koje su nam potrebne za du\u017ei boravak na tom nebeskom tijelu. Stru\u010dni termin za to je ISRU, odnosno &#8216;In-situ resource utilization&#8217;. To nam umnogome olak\u0161ava odabir kako se spakirati za takav put, \u0161to i koliko ponijeti sa sobom, a \u0161to mo\u017eemo napraviti jednom kad do\u0111emo na cilj na\u0161eg putovanja, koriste\u0107i lokalne elemente&#8221;, rekao je Pe\u010dnik za Index.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;MOXIE je tehnolo\u0161ki dokaz koncepta da je ISRU mogu\u0107 na Marsu, da mo\u017eemo proizvesti kisik koji nam treba za disanje, pa stoga mo\u017eemo razmi\u0161ljati o vi\u0161egodi\u0161njim svemirskim misijama. Mars i Zemlja kru\u017ee oko Sunca na na\u010din da svake dvije do dvije i pol godine me\u0111usobno do\u0111u u poziciju iz koje mo\u017eemo, koriste\u0107i postoje\u0107u ili tehnologiju u razvoju, sti\u0107i na Mars za otprilike 6 mjeseci. Stoga \u0107e svaka misija na Mars s ljudskom posadom u doglednoj budu\u0107nosti trajati najmanje tri godine&#8221;, dodao je.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Bez obzira \u0161to je MOXIE pokazao da mo\u017ee iz tana\u0161ne Marsove CO2 atmosfere proizvesti O2 razdvajanjem kisika od ugljika, te je proizvedeni kisik vratila u Marsovu atmosferu, ovo niti konceptualno nije po\u010detak teraformiranja Marsa, pretvaranja njegove atmosfere u ne\u0161to u \u010demu bismo mogli obitavati bez za\u0161titne opreme. Naime, MOXIE proizvodi kisik uzimaju\u0107i CO2 iz atmosfere, \u010dija je gusto\u0107a manje od 1% Zemljine&#8221;, obja\u0161njava Pe\u010dnik.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;\u010cak i kad bi MOXIE mogao mahnuti \u010darobnim \u0161tapi\u0107em i kompletnu Marsovu atmosferu pretvoriti iz CO2 u O2, i dalje bismo imali gusto\u0107u zraka koja je manja od 1% onoga \u0161to nam je potrebno. Za oboga\u0107ivanje Marsove atmosfere plinom koji mo\u017eemo disati, taj plin mora odnekuda do\u0107i u atmosferu; iz Marsova tla, iz polarnih ledenih kapa, ili iz svemira (npr. iz kometa i asteroida koji su bogati vodom)&#8221;, navodi astrofizi\u010dar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/otpor.media\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/mars-3-010922.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-28951\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-luminous-vivid-amber-color has-text-color wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Problem s teraformiranjem<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Dodatno, iako MOXIE ne koristi vodu za proizvodnju kisika, on je vrlo energetski neu\u010dinkovit pa te\u0161ko vidim kako i za\u0161to bi se ta tehnologija mogla skalirati na veli\u010dinu potrebnu za ljudsku naseobinu. Vjerojatnije je da \u0107e se za te potrebe koristiti neki drugi koncept proizvodnje kisika. Za po\u010detak, vjerojatno \u0107emo koristiti Sabatierov proces u kojem se ugljik dioksid i voda (od leda ispod povr\u0161ine) kombiniraju u metan i kisik. Kisik, osim za disanje, nam treba kao oksidans za metan, gorivo koje raketa koristi za povratak na Zemlju&#8221;, dodao je.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Za teraformiranje Marsa dodatan problem je to \u0161to Mars nema globalno magnetsko polje, koje bi \u0161titilo njegovu atmosferu od erozije zbog Sun\u010devog vjetra, koji svojim \u010desticama izbija u svemir molekule plina iz gornjih slojeva Marsove atmosfere. Stoga, osim izvora atmosferskog plina, da bismo teraformirali Mars, moramo smisliti na koji na\u010din zadr\u017eati atmosferu u Marsovom gravitacijskom polju&#8221;, zaklju\u010dio je Pe\u010dnik.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dakle, iako je ovaj ure\u0111aj prva uspje\u0161na demonstracija stvaranja kisika na nekom drugom planetu, izgleda da nam ne\u0107e puno pomo\u0107i u smislu teraformiranja planeta jer se ipak radi o podosta zahtjevnom projektu koji ovisi o mnogo faktora. Tako\u0111er je upitno mo\u017ee li MOXIE proizvoditi dovoljno kisika za potrebe astronauta koji bi boravili u nekoj stalnijoj bazi na Crvenom planetu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-luminous-vivid-amber-color has-text-color wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Koliko je MOXIE proizveo kisika za disanje?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Cilj stru\u010dnjaka je proizvesti sustav za odr\u017eavanje \u017eivota koji mo\u017ee raditi neprekidno, kako bi ljudi u nekoj budu\u0107oj svemirskoj bazi mogli normalno disati. Taj sustav \u0107e morati biti puno ve\u0107i od ure\u0111aja MOXIE, pi\u0161e Science Alert.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Mali tim astronauta bi tijekom jedne godine boravka na Marsu trebao oko jedne metri\u010dke tone kisika za disanje&#8221;, rekao je fizi\u010dar i planetarni znanstvenik Michael Hecht s MIT-a.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">MOXIE je dizajniran da tijekom jednosatnog rada proizvede do 10 grama kisika, \u0161to je dovoljno da jedan astronaut mo\u017ee disati oko 20 minuta. U svakom od sedam ciklusa, MOXIE je proizveo izme\u0111u 5.4 i 8.9 grama molekularnog kisika, \u0161to je ukupno 49.9 grama.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Budu\u0107i da temperatura i gusto\u0107a zraka na Marsu varira, ne samo tijekom dana i no\u0107i ve\u0107 i tijekom godi\u0161njih doba, znanstvenici su testirali mo\u017ee li MOXIE funkcionirati u \u0161irokom rasponu temperatura i gusto\u0107e zraka.
