Prema dvjema novim studijama, stakleni\u010dki plin zna\u010dajno je pridonio skupljanju gornje atmosfere. O ovoj kontrakciji se naga\u0111a ve\u0107 desetlje\u0107ima, a sada, po prvi put, to je stvarno i promatrano.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dio uo\u010denog skupljanja je normalan i vratit \u0107e se, no doprinos CO2 je, ka\u017eu znanstvenici, vjerojatno trajan. To zna\u010di da \u0107e neispravni sateliti i drugi dijelovi stare tehnologije u niskoj Zemljinoj orbiti vjerojatno ostati dulje na mjestu zbog smanjenja atmosferskog otpora, zatrpavanja podru\u010dja i uzrokuju\u0107i probleme za novije satelite i svemirska promatranja.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-luminous-vivid-amber-color has-text-color wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Sateliti \u0107e ostati du\u017ee aktivni<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Jedna od posljedica je da \u0107e sateliti ostati aktivni du\u017ee, \u0161to je sjajno, jer ljudi \u017eele da njihovi sateliti ostanu aktivni&#8221;, obja\u0161njava geosvemirski znanstvenik Martin Mlynczak iz NASA-inog istra\u017eiva\u010dkog centra Langley. &#8220;Ali krhotine \u0107e tako\u0111er ostati gore i vjerojatno \u0107e pove\u0107ati vjerojatnost da \u0107e sateliti i drugi vrijedni svemirski objekti morati prilagoditi svoju putanju kako bi izbjegli sudare&#8221;, poja\u0161njava dodatno.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Opisi Zemljine atmosfere op\u0107enito postavljaju slojeve na odre\u0111ene visine, ali istina je da volumen plinova koji okru\u017euju na\u0161 svijet nije stati\u010dan. \u0160iri se i skuplja kao odgovor na razli\u010dite utjecaje, od kojih je vjerojatno najve\u0107i Sunce.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ni Sunce nije stati\u010dno. Prolazi kroz cikluse aktivnosti, od visoke do niske i natrag, otprilike svakih 11 godina. Trenutno smo usred 25. takvog ciklusa od po\u010detka ra\u010dunanja, ciklusa koji je zapo\u010deo oko prosinca 2019. godine. Prethodni ciklus, broj 24, bio je neobi\u010dno prigu\u0161en \u010dak i na vrhuncu solarne aktivnosti, a to je ono \u0161to je Mlynczaku i njegovim kolegama omogu\u0107ilo da poduzmu mjerenja atmosferske kontrakcije. Njihova pozornost bila je usmjerena na dva sloja, zajedni\u010dki poznata kao MLT: mezosfera, koja po\u010dinje na oko 60 kilometara nadmorske visine i donja termosfera, koja po\u010dinje na oko 90 kilometara.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Podaci s NASA-inog satelita TIMED, opservatorija koji prikuplja podatke o gornjoj atmosferi, dali su im podatke o tlaku i temperaturi za MLT za razdoblje od gotovo 20 godina, od 2002. do 2021. godine<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-luminous-vivid-amber-color has-text-color wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Produljit \u0107e se vijek otpada<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">U nekim ni\u017eim slojevima atmosfere, CO2 stvara u\u010dinak zagrijavanja apsorbiraju\u0107i i ponovno emitiraju\u0107i infracrveno zra\u010denje u svim smjerovima, u\u010dinkovito hvataju\u0107i njegov dio. Gore u mnogo, mnogo tanjem MLT-u, me\u0111utim, dio infracrvenog zra\u010denja koje emitira CO2 izlazi u svemir, u\u010dinkovito odnose\u0107i toplinu i hlade\u0107i gornju atmosferu. \u0160to je CO2 ve\u0107i, to je atmosfera hladnija. Ve\u0107 smo znali da ovo hla\u0111enje uzrokuje skupljanje stratosfere. Sada mo\u017eemo vidjeti da isto radi i mezosferi i termosferi iznad nje. Koriste\u0107i podatke iz TIMED-a, Mlynczak i njegov tim otkrili su da se MLT smanjio za oko 1333 metra. Otprilike 342 metra od toga rezultat je radijacijskog hla\u0111enja izazvanog CO2. &#8220;Bilo je mnogo interesa da se vidi mo\u017eemo li zapravo promatrati ovaj u\u010dinak hla\u0111enja i skupljanja atmosfere&#8221;, ka\u017ee Mlynczak.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Kona\u010dno predstavljamo ta zapa\u017eanja u ovom radu. Prvi smo koji su pokazali smanjenje atmosfere na ovaj na\u010din, na globalnoj razini&#8221;, izjavio je. S obzirom na to da se termosfera prote\u017ee na nekoliko stotina kilometara, tih 342 metra mo\u017eda se ne \u010dini puno. Me\u0111utim, rad koji je u rujnu objavila fizi\u010darka Ingrid Cnossen iz British Antarctic Survey u Velikoj Britaniji pokazao je da bi hla\u0111enje termosfere moglo rezultirati smanjenjem atmosferskog otpora za 33 posto do 2070. godine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Atmosferski otpor je ono \u0161to poma\u017ee satelitima i raketnim stupnjevima da iza\u0111u iz orbite nakon zavr\u0161etka misije. Ovo smanjenje otpora moglo bi produljiti orbitalni \u017eivotni vijek nepostoje\u0107eg svemirskog otpada za 30 posto do 2070. godine, otkrio je Cnossen.
