Taj bi napredak mogao kona\u010dno pribli\u017eiti koncept nuklearne baterije prakti\u010dnoj uporabi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Od ranih 1900-ih znanstvenici su namjeravali stvoriti dugotrajne baterije otporne na o\u0161te\u0107enja koriste\u0107i radioaktivne atome. Iako su neki prototipovi razvijeni i kori\u0161teni u svemirskim misijama, nisu bili u\u010dinkoviti. Sada su Shuao Wang s kineskog Sveu\u010dili\u0161ta Soochow i njegov tim napravili zna\u010dajan korak, pobolj\u0161av\u0161i u\u010dinkovitost nuklearne baterije za \u010dak 8000 puta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tim je koristio americij, element nuklearnog otpada koji emitira alfa \u010destice, za stvaranje energije. Kako bi iskoristili tu energiju, ugradili su americij u polimerni kristal koji je emitirao kontinuirani zeleni sjaj. Dodana je fotonaponska \u0107elija za pretvaranje te svjetlosti u elektri\u010dnu energiju. Cijeli je sklop smje\u0161ten u kvarcnu \u0107eliju veli\u010dine milimetra.
