Istra\u017eivanje objavljeno u \u010dasopisu Journal of Nanobiotechnology otkrilo je da te \u010destice mogu promijeniti pona\u0161anje bakterije Escherichije coli, poznatog uzro\u010dnika trovanja hranom, i u\u010diniti je jo\u0161 opasnijom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Znanstvenici s ameri\u010dkog Sveu\u010dili\u0161ta Illinois, predvo\u0111eni molekularnim mikrobiologom Pratikom Banerjeejem, stvorili su nanoplastiku od polistirena i nabili je pozitivnim, negativnim ili neutralnim nabojem, prije nego \u0161to su je izlo\u017eili bakteriji E. coli. Fokusirali su se na utjecaj povr\u0161inskog naboja plastike na bakterijske reakcije.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Po\u010deli smo s povr\u0161inskim nabojem. Plastika ima ogroman kapacitet adsorpcije kemikalija. Svaka kemikalija druga\u010dije utje\u010de na povr\u0161inski naboj, ovisno o koli\u010dini adsorbirane kemikalije i vrsti plastike, objasnio je Banerjee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center has-vivid-red-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-1 wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Jasan u\u010dinak na E. coli<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Pozitivno nabijene \u010destice izazvale su najja\u010di fiziolo\u0161ki stres kod bakterija. Iako pre\u017eivljavanje E. coli nije bilo zna\u010dajno pogo\u0111eno, primije\u0107ena je pove\u0107ana proizvodnja toksina sli\u010dnog Shiga toksinu, koji je glavni uzro\u010dnik bolesti kod ljudi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nismo se u ovom radu bavili utjecajem samih kemikalija, to je predmet na\u0161e sljede\u0107e studije, ali ovo je prvi korak u razumijevanju kako povr\u0161inski naboj plastike utje\u010de na reakciju patogene E. coli, rekao je Banerjee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bakterije E. coli testirane su i u obliku biofilma, odnosno ljepljive zajednice koju \u010desto formiraju na povr\u0161inama. \u010cak i u tom obliku, prisutnost pozitivno nabijenih nanoplastika izazvala je stres i pove\u0107ano lu\u010denje navedenog toksina. Tako\u0111er su zabilje\u017eene promjene u ekspresiji gena povezanih s virulencijom, pod utjecajem pozitivnog i negativnog naboja.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Biofilm je vrlo \u010dvrsta bakterijska struktura i te\u0161ko ga je ukloniti. Predstavlja veliki problem u medicini, gdje se formira na umetnutim pomagalima poput katetera ili implantata, kao i u prehrambenoj industriji.
